Erden; a continent of magic, guns, violence and monsters where even the air itself is out to get you. It’s a place that can be a lot of things for a lot of people.
For Malik, it was a place of pain, suffering and death. When escaping a lifetime of slavery from a place everyone believed inescapable only proved to be the beginning of different struggles, Malik had to face the harsh reality that action and inaction could have equally dire consequences.
It was a brilliant stroke of insanity, one might argue, that he had every intention of going back to the city he had escaped from to keep the promises made, both good and bad.
Sometimes, after all, murder really was the best answer to a problem. It was unfortunate that he wasn’t the only one with that opinion. The Raven Empress wanted her property back, no matter the cost.
Justice, as Malik soon learned, is a very subjective thing.
